Canon Ec-D Focusing Screen
Canon offers laser matte screens in a variety of markings, ranging from grid lines, a cross-hair reticle, frame crops, or no markings at all. Canon Ec-D is a laser matte (with grid lines) focusing screen that has no visual focusing aids. Instead, it shows the entire image area going in and out of focus, even with lenses that have an effective aperture smaller than f/5.6. Also, the Intelligent Viewfinder Display (found in EOS 1D X) can now superimpose its own grid lines, though these LCD lines don’t enter the overall AF array area. Users who frequently use manual focus, Tilt/Shift lenses or AF users who rely on only the center AF point may prefer this Ec-D focus screen with the etched lines that fully cover the central area of the scene.
